Travelodge London Sidcup

1-3 High St, Sidcup DA14 6EN, UK – 0871 984 6380

Great location which is only five minutes away from a village and perfect location when heading into town. I stayed there while visiting a friend and it was really convenient allowing us to come in at whatever time and still having door staff. Also kept very clean and tidy with a breakfast option.

Absolutely fantastic staff. Kim especially who went above and beyond anything expected. Actual lodge does what it says on the tin. Practical , Clean, warm and comfortable

Premier Inn London Sidcup

101-108 Station Rd, Sidcup DA15 7AJ, UK – 0871 527 9640

A new hotel that is well run and perfect for a quick stop over. Room was good size and nice. Only downside is that there is no window and air conditioning was rather drying to have on all night. Nice to have a restaurant and then an independent run ice cream place below that. Car park too.

Good clean room... typical good bed provided by premier inn. Not to noisy... good nights sleep and helpful staff at a good low cost price. One of the cheapest around considering it is in a reasonably good location to Bars. Pubs and train station with good links to the city. Good option for a cheap stay

Premier Inn London Eltham

738 Sidcup Rd, Eltham, London SE9 3NS, UK – 0871 527 9604

Good rooms, pleasant and helpful staff. Food was very good, considering it is a chain, steak was perfect, thanked the chef. Would have given 5 but rooms lack phone reception, but it does state that clearly on the website, doubt there is much they can do about it.

Nice and clean room, unable to comment on anything as only used to sleep. Very comfortable. My only complaint is mainly a personal 1 as their duvets were way too thick and hot for me (missus loved it though). Value for money as we stayed 24th-27th Dec. Staff were very friendly and helpful

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

Imperial Arms Pub & Courtyard Wine Bar

1 Old Hill, Chislehurst BR7 5LZ, UK – 020 3605 7899

I often frequent the Imperial Arms Pub and Bistro, and have not written a review on here before, but i feel that others should know how great the quality of the food and drink that is served here. Usually i will have the Imperial Burger and chips, and it is second to none. Highly recommended - to accompany a lovely cold pint. I recently tried the Crispy Buffalo Chicken Strips, which comes with an amazing cheese dip - food heaven and will definitely be having again. Whatever the choice on the menu, i would be very surprised if one was not impressed. Please, if going to a cosy, fun pub for a drink and bite to eat is your cup of tea then please try the Impy, you won't be disappointed.

A proper pub. Good beer, good food and good atmosphere. Quiz night on Wednesdays.

The Bickley

Chislehurst Rd, Chislehurst BR7 5NP, UK – 020 8468 7613

Staff were friendly, turned up early for a roast dinner, It was very packed in main restaurant area so we were seated in the bar on the high chair's. We arrived early as my daughter was very hungry and wanted a roast dinner. I must say, for the money I was very disappointed and really wished I had reserved my booking with Toby Carvery which was at 8pm. The food which was served up was Luke warm at best. (My lamb was basically cold, but I still ate it). I had like 3 roast potatoes on my plate. My wife had two?!?! For 17 quid??? Really?? I don't like to leave bad reviews but, sorry I just had to make an exception here. Especially as, in all I spent 60 pounds of my hard earned money on this.

The place itself is well kept and is well decorated too, there is a nice look and feel to the place overall, including the outside. We have been there a couple of times, in the quieter times, during the day, its quite laid back and there is a nice relaxed feeling about the venue. At peak times, such as a Friday night, which was when we last went here, the place is a lot busier and is a bit annoying as it becomes increasingly difficult to get served at the bar, it doesn't become difficult purely because there are more people, its actually because a lot of the staff do not pay attention to who is next in the queue, if there is such a thing, and there are many people (mainly ladies and those who are quite short in height) who seem to just get ignored - it seems as though if you waive a £20 note higher than everyone else around you, you are likely to be next - so the service is actually quite poor here - it is better at quieter times but there was an instance where I had been waiting patiently to be served for about 10 minutes, which can feel a lot longer when you are actually standing there with no drink and nothing else to do - it was going to be my turn next, it wasn't busy enough to not know or realise that, I did the thing with eye contact, so the barman knew I was going to be next and right at that moment, 3 young ladies, dressed for the night out walked up to the bar, the barman immediately grinned from ear to ear and proceeded to serve them next, to which I swiftly said that it was actually my turn next, at which point he decided he had selective hearing and walked off to get them their drink. I did actually make a complaint to the next bar person who served me and she replied that the exact same thing happens a lot in there. That experience alone means that I probably won't go back in there for a long time, not never, but for a considerable amount of time so that the bar staff will have hopefully changed for the better by the time I do go in. The prices are also quite steep at over £5 per pint of lager.

Tigers Head

Watts Lane, Chislehurst BR7 5PJ, UK – 020 8467 3070

As always the food was excellent I had the fish grill. Absolutely lovely. My friend had the Garden bowl. She really enjoyed her meal as well.the service was great and the staff really nice. I have occasionally eaten her do about 15 years and have always hade a great experience here.

Always a good atmosphere at this pub set across the road from St Nicholas church in a lovely leafy suburb in South East London. Food well prepared and service with a smile. Children welcome and good options for vegetarians.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation plus Guesthouses

The Orange B & B

24 Jason Walk, London SE9 3DH, UK – 07702 630700

Very useful service. There's no sign outside, so it does take a little finding, but they were flexible and accommodating when our train got in late and we were having problems getting in touch. Stayed here for a night whilst visiting friends in Mottingham.

The Mary Rose Inn

36-50 High Street, Orpington, Bromley BR5 3NJ, UK – 01689 871917

The staff were friendly, and the room was recently decorated, however the bathroom was a bit dusty, and it was generally cold. It can't be helped, as it's an old coaching inn. It has bags of character, but the public areas and the pub could do with some attention.

Lovely place. People nice n friendly. 😉

Glendevon House Hotel

80 Southborough Rd, Bromley BR1 2EN, UK – 020 8467 2183

Staff were nice, room was clean and spacious but the TV didn't work.

Comfortable little b&b,very clean, even has self catering facilities

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Good prices but the staff seem very unfriendly (apart from the weekend staff) It would be nice to receive service with a smile. There is always a load of litter outside the store which isn't necessarily Budgen's fault but it does put me off as it makes the store seem scruffy. Also, my Husband said he saw customers go into the store in their pyjamas and dressing gowns! Surely there must be a dress code? I can't believe people can't be bothered to get dressed to visit their local store? It is useful having this store close by but I still try and make sure I don't have to visit too often as it feels unwelcoming.

Very friendly staff, excellent wines, fresh produce unfortunately not a great fan of some of budgens own products taste needs improvement.
